Rose’s Story

We love hearing stories about how the NDIS has changed lives and empowered people to have choice and control in their lives.

We believe that long term continuity of care and the building of trusting relationships is vital for effective support.

Rose has been with us for over a year now and we have seen her grow in confidence – both in her skills and abilities and her self.  We are so pleased that the NDIS and the support from Auscare Day Services has made such a difference for her life and will continue to give her opportunity and growth for years to come!

Rose’s Story:

“I’ve worked with my disability support worker for over a year now, and I can honestly say that it’s changed my life in so many different ways.

I have an intellectual disability since birth and have
always found it difficult to live everyday life normally and have the right
supports. Especially after leaving school and having to rely on my family and
being very dependent on them.

After a while I became isolated for a very long time, until my family found NDIS and was able to find me somebody who could regularly support me.

Having this support has also kept me out of hospitals as
my mental health was really suffering before hand and I had no social life.

Slowly but surely, my support worker has helped me with
getting out into the world and in groups where my social skills have improved
so much since.

I’m able to do so much more than I used to, more than I
ever have in my whole 22 years of life.

With my regular supports I’ve successfully been able to
move out of my parent’s house independently.

I see my support worker almost every day so I can keep on
top of everything at home like cleaning and cooking meals.

We also make sure to go out and do things I enjoy like
art, walking in nature and photography, and just having a coffee and a chat.

I’ve accomplished so much and I’m so thankful for my team
and it’s also driving me to want to work to help other people in some way

I believe there’s so many people out there just like me who really need the help, especially with having a disability, and the world can be a lonely place.

NDIS and Auscare day services can provide so many
different supports to all kinds of people and change someone’s life completely.

I hopeful that one day I will be able to help people too!”
